Submission #296

I created this design while living in the remote community of Ahousat where my husband worked as a policeman. Although I am not Native, the members of the community encouraged and supported me in creating my own Native style art. This piece is inspired by the Native people of Ahousat who have maintained many of thier of traditional ways of living in this remote community. Vancouver was my home for many years and I still go to Vancouver on occasion to study at Emily Carr. It was an honour to live in Ahousat and this piece is dedicated to the people the there. In 2003, it won second prize in the North Vancouver Coho Festival.
