DESCRIPTION: The design represents a symbiotic relationship between individuals and their water systems. It invites the observer to consider how one identifies self to environment and to question the resulting imprint. The fingerprint visually mimics rippling water and characterizes the cycle.
MATERIALS: The reflective copper or bronze fingerprint will be raised from the surface of the otherwise black manhole, creating sculptural depth and contrast. The black background will be cast in a matte-black iron (or similar material) and will be finished with a sandpaper-like, rough texture, in order to prevent slipping.
